Doesn't work in new tab

Omni doesn't work on an empty new tab, I've seen a few bug reports about this and apparently the issue was fixed but maybe I'm mistaken. I believe it's a Chrome restriction, is there any workaround for this or some Chrome flag that can be changed? Thanks.
