Some pdf's don't print.
debug.zip Many pdf files print well, but the ones that my bank send me never seem to print through this driver.
Hi, pls translate to english the text of error, given in your screen shot.
also pls give which setting is for paper size(Letter, A4...or something), and resolution you used - 600 or 1200.
It doesn t give any information out, it says:
There is a problem with the printing of document "PARKING, SCHIPHOL.PDF" , print job 635

Paper size is set to A4
I do not find any resolution settings on the system (Linux Mint 17.3 with CUPS)

Hi. I tested your file and it printed well. But, there seem there are some problems with access rights at creation of temporary directory for intermediate files. strange... it worked before. ok. if you have some of your files printed but this - not, please open driver file ricoh-sp1xx-drv.py comment line 55, and discomment line 56. If driver invoked, he will create DLOG.LOG near himself and dump there, what is he doing. but cups will call the driver as "lp" user, and DLOG.LOG will have "lp" user ownership, so to open it editor you'll need to open editor via sudo command. my dump when i'm printing your test file is - look at "printing : OK" at the end of the file - it says that driver exits without errors. and all went good.

normally dump disabled for paranoids about security, to not leave an info - which file was printed last. finally. if some of your files are printed, but the file you sent here - not - enable dump and put it here. for me everything is working. my printer is Ricoh sp 111, may be you have some another printer? regards, alex.
Hi, strange thing doesn' t print. Manually created the file XXX.OUT and when I copy this to the printer: $ sudo cat XXX.OUT > /dev/usb/lp0 it asnwers: bash: /dev/usb/lp0: Permission denied

I created a file by invoking the driver: cat Parking_Schiphol.pdf| ./ricoh-sp1xx-drv.py PageSize=A4 > XXX.OUT
The DLOG file seems to be oke. It s in the attachment.

- if you got - permission denied for lp...it means that there is something wrong with your permission, but driver(if you got an output file of non zero size) works correctly. also you can redirect driver to a file, if you comment line 52 and discomment line 53. then you can "print" to the file. i use it for debugging, to not spend paper.
- where is your attachment? or i can't find it, or you missed it.
- i'm not specialist in cups diagnostics...but message - "filter failed" says that driver ended with not zero error code. cups names drivers as "filters". but if there was not zero error code, problem must be visible in driver dump - DLOG. it could be some permission problem for example.
- !!! There is one side effect on driver error. now temporary files are created at /tmp/ricoh_sp1xxx/ (see line 44,45,46 - where it can be modified), after print without errors, this dir has been deleted. but if error occured - driver exits without delete of this dir. If you printed via cups, it will be created with owner - lp. but if you manually run driver as user and driver failed - dir was created with owner "user", and it won't be deleted, if error occured. and if you try to print via cups again, driver will fail with "permission denied", because user lp tries to write to existing dir with owner - "user". DLOG will show it. to correct this, you must manually delete dir - /tmp/ricoh_sp1xxx. this error could have place only if you run driver from cups and manually from user session, and it fails.
normally, my procedure of driver check is easy. 1.force the driver to create files DLOG.LOG(you know how) and DOUT.OUT(comment line 52 and discomment line 53). 2. just print document via cups. printer won't work, because file is redirected to DOUT.OUT. 3. check if DOUT has not zero size, and DLOG doesn't mention errors. 4. open DOUT in hex editor, to be sure that DOUT has something kinda "...12345X@PJL..." at the beginning, and "...@PJL EOJ..." at the end. if so - file is wellformed, and printer must accept it. regards, alex
aahh. do not forget to delete manually the dir /tmp/ricoh_sp1xxx, if you're printing via cups, but it exists and has not owner-lp.

After installing again and again, even with a fresh install of Linux, I still have this error message: filter failed.
So I have run out of good idea's and are using madlynx driver again.

ok. if madlynx driver works well for you, then it is your choice. i cannot reproduce your error, because I can print your file without problems. Regards, Alex.
