Nightly Release Wont Connect
I know it's the nightly and I get it, just wanna make sure someone knows about this, though I'm sure you guys already do, but all the recent ALVR nightly releases won't recognize when I launch steamvr starting on version 11. 22, 11. 19 seems to work so far, though I assume that gap in releases was maybe caused by this bug, I can't be sure.
okay so its not just me because last night it was working just fine and i just tried to play and it doesnt wanna work
@Wild-Raven @yesimviolet Can you explain exactly which nightly don't work?
I have the same problem, when launching SteamVR it says headset not detected and it doesn't connect to ALVR. The last nightly that works for me is 11.19, the next build (11.22) and the latest (12.05) don't work.
I cloned the repo, reverted this commit be9396b39015f2ad859608d97826579c97a7aa87 and made a build and it seemed to solve the issue.
I'm on Windows 10, AMD CPU, Nvidia GPU and SteamVR 2.14.3. @zmerp
Sorry, I wasn't watching my notifs. It's every nightly after 11.19, I tried them all @zmerp
@Wild-Raven @jgdml I wasn't able to reproduce. All nightlies work for me. I've made some server builds of the commits between 11.19 and 11.22. let me know which work (if any)
For me eab45a64.zip connects to SteamVR, but be9396b.zip and 3b80d293.zip don't.
For me eab45a6.zip connects to SteamVR, but be9396b.zip and 3b80d29.zip don't.
Exactly the same for me. eab45a6.zip connects but the others dont. The newest nightly also doesn't work.
Thanks. It's indeed the VPL encoder PR. I'll notify the author
Interesting... Are there any error messages of some sort?
I will have a closer look and try to narrow down the potential source over the next few days.

Nothing appears on the streamer logs. On the SteamVR console there is this.
I was testing and found out that if you remove this try/catch and build the streamer it connects normally, although from what i undestand this function should return earlier than that. I couldn't find where the Debug lines from this file appear though. https://github.com/alvr-org/ALVR/blob/be9396b39015f2ad859608d97826579c97a7aa87/alvr/server_openvr/cpp/platform/win32/CEncoder.cpp#L58-L65
I wasn't getting any errors when I was using it
Just tried building master, the driver doesn't load, because a dependency cannot be found:
