All textures are scrambled

Open thackel opened this issue 2 months ago • 9 comments

First of all thank you for this great piece of software!

Description

The SteamVR-Menu is totally scrambled, any game has the same problem. Squares of wrong textures.

The overall quality over the rendered garbage is good B-)

Could you try reducing your bitrate?

chaixshot avatar Nov 18 '25 06:11 chaixshot

The bitrate is not the problem. Tried min/max values, problem persists. I think the headset settings are fine, all the steaming in the "night world" works very good and without lag etc.

Just any other input from SteamVR like the Steam-menu and games are cut in these large squares and filled with wrong textures. Also the "eye view" of SteamVR shows the same artifacts.

I found this issue for SteamVR https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/827

So its link I thought, probably not related with ALVR, its SteamVR/MESA.

i have the exact same issue except for when i launch a game (ex. vrchat) the default steamvr surroundings look completely fine.

edit: noticed it also broke my gnome topbar for some reason?

adim2222 avatar Nov 25 '25 21:11 adim2222

sorry for the double post. disabling the integrated graphics on the cpu solved the issue for me.

adim2222 avatar Nov 25 '25 22:11 adim2222

I have the same issue on the same GPU (RX 9060 XT). Looks like its a issue of vulkan-radeon version 1:25.2.7, the developers said that they're gonna fix it with 1:25.2.8 today (November, 26). see here

Same issue, RX 5700XTX

viktor02 avatar Nov 27 '25 02:11 viktor02

Had the same issue (7800 XT), tried disabling the integrated graphics as adim2222 mentioned above and that fixed it.

After upgrading Mesa and vulkan-radeon to version 1:25.3.1-2 I still have the issue with glitching steamvr menu. Also I am using the integrated graphics as output.
