[suggest] Pico’s tracker support

Open NONAME-2121237 opened this issue 10 months ago • 6 comments

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share an exciting development from Pico regarding their new body tracking technology, which is currently in the beta testing phase. The full-body tracking capabilities are reported to be exceptional, and they have already released the API for it.

Considering this advancement, I propose that we explore the possibility of integrating Pico’s tracker support into the upcoming version of ALVR.

Unfortunately last time i heard/saw, pico have not provided any public documents on openxr extensions that they are using for them. I did saw body and face/eye tracking exts on 5.9+ pui, but without at least headers, it's painful reverse engineering.

In fact, as I know, Pico's body and facial data can be obtained on the Pico avatar SDK. As for how to convert it into data that can be delivered to Steam VR, I am not very clear. If you want to learn about the Pico avatar SDK, you can go to the homepage of the Pico developer page

I have learned through internal channels that Pico's open XR body data has now entered the preview stage, and developers who have signed developer agreements with Pico can access it.

Well, I guess it's waiting game again until they open those exts properly to everyone instead of hiding behind agreements...
