add blurb about that one security site, and PIA, and Privacy Badger
This site has one of the, if not the best, vpn breakdowns I know of https://thatoneprivacysite.net/vpn-section/ One of the VPN providers they list is Private Internet Access, I use their service regularly. It's reliable and affordable, as well as provides numerous clients for cross platform support. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com Lastly, I've seen great success in blocking 3rd party tracking using Privacy Badger https://www.eff.org/privacybadger
Thanks for this PR @esabelhaus! Your VPN and Privacy Badger suggestions are fantastic.
I added a line note about your VPN edits - mind making that change as another commit to this PR?
I will take a look at the language for your Privacy Badger recommendation later this week. I originally thought uBlock origin would take care of everything and that Privacy Badger wasn't necessary.
I did some research and stumbled upon https://github.com/EFForg/privacybadgerfirefox-legacy/issues/691. It looks like Privacy Badger does offer extra benefits that merit installation alongside uBlock Origin. Since this PR is from 2015 (and for the legacy Privacy badger repo) I'm going to do additional research to make sure this is still true.
The consideration I make with privacy badger, is that it goes about blocking without a preset list, but instead defines what is a tracker based off what it sees stored as localized vs global cookies, as well as preventing a few forms of browser fingerprinting. I think there is definitely some redundancy between the end goal of both tools, but I like the notion that something could be passively detected and blocked by privacy badger, potentially before it is actively blocked by uBlock
