Soundblaster G8 USB Audio not working correctly

Open Starfoxfs opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Soundblaster G8 works partly under Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon.

Audio playback works in Analog stereo or Duplex mode with headphones and these are displayed as Speakers.

Digital SPDIF Out works and also the switch button between headphones and Digital out to external Speakers (only with pipewire not with Pulseaudio).

What doesn't work is the Direct Mode and all the Crystalizer surround settings as well as output in virtual 5.1 or 7.1 sound.

Microphone doesn´t work, if it plugged in i have no sound at all.

I have the same issue as of now. I'm on Nobara 42, kernel 6.15.4. Everytime I press the mode switch button it would revert back to its previous mode instead of switching over. I can force the switch with alsamixer by doin this:

  1. in alsamixer use F6 to choose the G8
  2. Switch from dsp mode into stereo direct (or the other way around). Now Mode-LED is either on or off but you will have no sound
  3. Change from Analog Stereo to Duplex mode (or the other way around) and you will have sound again. But this isn't a long term solution imo. Haven't looked into surround, mic (I have an USB mic) or crystalize yet so i can't comment on that.

The no-sound when switching DSP or Direct also affects the Soundblaster G6 btw (Pop OS 24.04)
