Submit to ELPA
First off, thanks for writing salv! I've been using it for years, and it's my favorite auto save package for Emacs.
The README has stated for a long time that salv is part of GNU ELPA, but it seems it was never actually included. It would be nice to get it submitted for inclusion, if not in GNU ELPA, then at least in one of the other popular Emacs package repositories like NonGNU ELPA or MELPA.
Well time sure does fly. I didn't realize that it had been almost 2 years since I put this on GitHub.
I did submit it to ELPA, but it got bogged down in comparisons with auto-save-visited-mode (even though I clearly explained the differences). IIRC it was proposed that I refactor auto-save-visited to accommodate how salv is designed to work--a task I have no time for nor interest in. Then I let it go.
If you'd like to propose it for inclusion again, I don't object to that. It needn't be the author or maintainer who brings it up. Having an actual user might give the request more weight. But I don't feel like I have time to pursue this right now, as I have a lot on my plate IRL.
Thanks for your interest, either way.
I'm not sure I have the time to argue for it on the mailing lists right now either. If you want, I could submit a pull request to MELPA on your behalf though, since it's generally easier to get it included there.
I'm generally trying to put my packages on ELPA now, rather than on MELPA. I've already got a number of them on MELPA. Thanks, though.
