If initial sync fails, the session should be considered disconnected

For example, if there's a JSON parse error for the initial sync response, we can't continue syncing, so the session should be "disconnected." (Of course, a timeout of the initial sync should still be retried.)

I just ran into this behaviour today and was going to ask how to cancel that sync.

This is my log today

I've also got some warnings about Room avatar seems unreadable: <details> presumably linked to the JSON parsing issue.
