We adjusted the language to 'leaving a service' as we found some users of public-facing services didn't think they had signed in and were confused when prompted to sign out.

Would it be appropriate to discuss the experience of a sign out request in this issue? We are wondering about creating a "You have been signed out" page with links to sign back in or go somewhere else relevant - are there any patterns we should be aware of?

The sign out component is part of a list of one item. Accessibility have said this needs to be changed, it would also resolve the issue of the menu appearing on mobile devices with a single item here also.
