With the introduction of GaaP GDS moved away from calling GOV.UK the business-unit-slash-programme (aka, www.gov.uk, aka GOV.UK Publishing), to avoid confusion with GOV.UK the 'brand', which includes GOV.UK Pay, Verify, Notify, etc.

Talking about Components as GOV.UK Components places them at a GaaP level, which is confusing for someone outside of the GOV.UK Publishing programme. A repo name change might be a bit much, but making the README/repo-description clearer might help, and making clearer inside the app as well?

I'm very 👍 to making the clear distinction between GOV.UK 'government online' and www.GOV.UK or GOV.UK Publishing.

I think so. It was certainly being discussed while I was still on the team. It would be worth you checking with them though.
