Enable other Linux distributions

Other Linux distributions that rely on GTK, DBus and other common prerequisites should be supported in the same way that Ubuntu and its derivatives are supported. Ubuntu should remain the main target, but When could work on other Linux flavors as well, via the stock signal handler fallback mechanism that has been recently activated.

At the moment When has been successfully tested on:

  • Ubuntu (since Trusty Tahr)
  • Linux Mint 17.3
  • Elementary OS (requires manual installation of some packages from third party repositories)
  • Debian 8.0 (some tweak needed to show top panel icon, though)

I also have seen some RPM packages around, but never tested them.
