Start of Day Feature for 3rd Shifters

Open Tannman129 opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Hello! I'm here on behalf of 3rd shifters requesting a feature to set the start of our day. Typically 3rd shifters start their shifts at 10p-12a and work until 6a-8a. Even though we clock in on a Monday at 11p and clock out Tuesday at 7a, 11p would be the start of Tuesday for us so a feature being able to set our start of day at 11pm would be great so our entries wouldn't be split and be entered on the correct day.

I hope that makes sense. I've yet to see any app be able to do something like this and it would be great for us night shifters!

I attached a screenshot of a standard shift I entered working 11pm-7am which in my case should just be 8 hours worked on the 5th

I added option to the day-offset settings to start the day at a few hours before the actual start (#514). That will at least help with navigating the timeline.

Is there also a wish to take this offset into account in the reporting? I decided earlier (in #148) to keep this option restricted to timeline-snapping only. To apply it in full we must also:

  • Change where the day markers are in the timeline.
  • Make sure the timeline is also slightly shifted in e.g. week or month views.
  • Fix that the title at the top shows the day correctly
  • Account for the time offset in the reporting.

That would be great and ideal. I'm self hosting this for a small group of us at work where our employer is constantly messing up our paychecks. I really appreciate adding the offset, but it would be absolutely awesome to have the offset be taken into account in the reporting.
