Possible bug / display issue with "Visitor Hostnames and IPS"

Open oddjobz opened this issue 1 year ago • 15 comments

Issue actually reported by someone else, but I see it on mine too. Only seems to affect this specific chart which is odd.

If I mouse-over a "bar", the popup-box with details that I'm hoping to see for that bar appear "elsewhere" on the chart, and contain the numbers for elsewhere on the chart, rather than the bar under the mouse. It's very inconsistent, the popup can appear a couple of bars away or half a chart away, either to the left or right of the bar under the cursor.

If I mouse-over the chart, popups will appear and disappear as the mouse moves along, but typically not always under the cursor, sometimes they will appear half a chart away in the opposite direction to the direction of travel.

I've added a quick video to try to demonstrate, doesn't show the mouse but if you assume the mouse is moving in a linear fashion from one end of the chart to the other, then back again.

I recall seeing this issue previously, and I think it was resolved. Can you confirm if you’re using the latest version?

As far as I know;

# goaccess --version
GoAccess - 1.9.3.
For more details visit: https://goaccess.io/

Build configure arguments:
  --enable-utf8
  --enable-geoip=mmdb
  --with-getline
  --with-openssl

Latest release note says 1.9.3 ... ?

Are you able to share the html report or the access log that I can use to replicate this on my end? If that's okay, please feel free to send it to hello [@] goaccess . io.

Erm, I could, but I would have to jump through some hoops .. specifically I'd need to set up a dummy site, insert some dummy date etc. If you need it I could do it over the weekend but it'll take me a little time. That said; I have 10 different goaccess instances, all of them exhibit the same problem so it doesn't seem to be related to the data given each one runs from a different data set ... ?

I’m curious if this might be a browser issue. Can you check if you see the problem at https://rt.goaccess.io? If not, it would be helpful if you could share the report, or at least that specific panel. You can use --ignore-panel= if needed.

Mmm, spooky. That is very smooth for me, no problems at all. I tried changing the settings to see if I could reproduce the issue .. no dice. So data .. launch params or code version?

oddjobz avatar Oct 26 '24 00:10 oddjobz

Ok, so I can't email the address above, apparently I'm getting recipient refused .. got another address?

oddjobz avatar Oct 26 '24 20:10 oddjobz

Ok, strike that, my email. I've just sent you an index.html that demonstrates the issue ... :-)

oddjobz avatar Oct 26 '24 20:10 oddjobz

Thank you for sharing that; I received your email. Just to confirm, it's a 22 request report? Which panel are you referring to?

allinurl avatar Oct 27 '24 16:10 allinurl

Yep, it's the visitor hostnames and ips ..

oddjobz avatar Oct 27 '24 16:10 oddjobz

I responded to your email with a screenshot, but I’m not experiencing any issues on my end when hovering over the bars. I'm using Chrome—are you using a different browser?

allinurl avatar Oct 27 '24 16:10 allinurl

Didn't see a screenshot / not attached that I can see.

Chromium:
Version 126.0.6478.164 (Official Build) Built on Debian , running on Ubuntu 24.10 (64-bit)

But if I fire up FireFox (latest) which I've just done, same issue. It's not every bar, most bars are Ok, maybe between 2 and 4 are out of place and the popup appears wildly out of place and with the wrong info. (well the right info for where it pops up, it's just in some instances it's nowhere near the cursor)

Have replied to your email with a video the same as yours, but showing the problem ...

oddjobz avatar Oct 27 '24 19:10 oddjobz

I received your video and noticed that there are 42 requests, but the report you shared shows only 22. Would you be able to share the specific report with the 42 requests where you are seeing the issue? Thanks

The last email I sent had two attachments, the video and the index.html used to make the video. I just loaded it here, it does indeed show 42 requests.
