External player doesn't sync

Describe the bug I got a new device (Dune HD 8k pro plus) and the plugin doesn't work with it's native player. I think doesn't trigger the thing. I tried with exo and it works. Sorry if this is a thing already.

This is expected. Because there is no way I can check if something is playing if its outside of stremio

@aliyss Maybe I didn't make it clear but this behavior is seen while using stremio. I don't know coding or how these work. Jellyfin addon for simkl plugin works fine with external player. Maybe there can be a way to do it and that plugin has an answer for it. Again, I am just a user. Thanks for the awesome code 🙂

Does Jellyfin also provide the stream itself?

Ok so how this addon works is:

When you click on the stream, stremio goes and checks for subtitles. Syncribullet acts like a subtitle addon and instead of returning subtitles it marks the episode as watched on simkl.

The jellyfin addon on simkl is an addon for jellyfin. Jellyfin is a completely different program, so it might provide different ways of handling things.

I'll think of a workaround, maybe I can make it happen.

Here is an example on how to use syncribullet with external Urls and still have syncing working. I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the addon.

I just tried that and am facing a weird issue. So I put my manifest.json and it is working on my Windows stremio but not on my mobile or Android stremio. I tried a different provider but still the same.

Thank you for the addon.

I use Vimu Media Player, and this External Playback setting does not seem to be working when it comes to tracking with Torrentio and TPB+ addons.

@TheAymen Yes, because the External Playback only works for External URLs. Because it opens a link and redirects the user.
