Sending a scrolling text command while one is currently scrolling causes the settings to mix

I have been using it for real time applications, specifically a clock, and showing text messages text messages are set to show in 4 lines the clock in 2

I sent the text message to the display, and before it was finished scrolling, the clock event fired, and now it's stuck in 4 line mine even though the clock event is sending 2 lines
