metube [Feature Request] MKV download option

The ability to select MKV as a format in the options, or an option to convert to different formats after the download is complete

mkv is a container same as mp4 and regardless of video or audio encoding. Why mkv?

I cut videos later with LosslessCut, and it cannot really handle mp4, only mkv, the timeline get all laggy

the timeline is a known issue of ffmpeg with vp09 codec. I'd like to know if it's still an issue with avc1. try YTDL_OPTIONS={"format_sort":["codec:avc:m4a"]}

Thank you, it is better. Not as good as with mkv, but I can live with it if nothing else can be done. Again thank you for your time.

glad to help. If it is, I believe the issue will still exist when the vp09 codec is in the mkv.

this gives error: Error adding URL: ERROR: Invalid format sort string ":" given by extractor; please report this issue on https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues?q= , filling out the appropriate issue template. Confirm you are on the latest version using yt-dlp -U
