New Shellies Plus
Hi,
homebridge-shelly describe xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx does unfortunately not deliver a json string for a shelly plus 1PM device (v0.8.1), although the device is available through it's web interface. Any chance to implement the device?

You can't use the "homebridge-shelly describe" command because the Shelly Plus 1, Shelly Plus 1 PM and Shelly Pro 4 are using the new Gen2-API. So we need someone how can make the "homebridge-shelly describe command working with the Gen2-API.

I can understand why Alex has been quiet on this topic, the GEN2 API is vastly different to the API of GEN1 devices, and therefor parts of this plugin would have to be virtually rewritten. So it's just my 2 penny's worth but I don't see the happening anytime soon.
Sure it may need some time but a short word from the developer would be great! Or if we could spend some PayPal coffees for his work!

I got a reply from Shelly support on my question regarding the possibility of having the CoIoT server connectivity on the new devices. The answer is no.
"Due to the different chipset of the new generation devices they use different scripting. The CoIoT protocol have been removed and instead you can use MQTT or REST-API. This is the documentation: https://shelly-api-docs.shelly.cloud/gen2/ "
The API information looks comprehensive.

That could mean that a New Plugin may be necessary in stead on including these devices in this one ☝️
I'm using mqttthing plugin for the shelly pro4pm, it works very well with the new API2 over MQTT. I think a new shelly plugin should be written, the differences are huge between api v1 and v2.

Same here, mqttthing works well for my older Shellies and the Plus 1PM. Voltage, Current, Power, Energy Consumption and Temperature visible in Eve App.
