Progress bar for the page

Suggested by @matan-h. Maybe the page should show an indicator of how many steps have been completed so far? This might give the users a sense of accomplishment and help them know what to expect. On the other hand it might not be beneficial at all. Some steps can easily take 100x longer to complete than others.

What if people go back to some accomplished chapter? Or jump to future chapters (is that allowed)?

It would indicate completion of steps within the page that they're on, not all steps in the course.
