Communication between android and iOs

Hello, I am trying to get it working for an android 8.1 and iOs 12.1 phones with just bluetooth. Do you know if it's possible for those os versions? It works via WIFI, but not with just bluetooth so I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or it's not supported
