SendBetterEmail - Save Activities on Each Recipient When Using Template Recipient Record ID

Open Garywoo opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I'm using a template, and therefore supplying a value in the Recipient Record ID field. I'm sending the email to more than one recipient by specifying a collection of contacts in the TO or CC sections. When I check the box to "Save Email as Activity on Recipient Record(s)?", only the one contact referenced in the Recipient Record ID field gets an activity saved on their contact.

Describe the solution you'd like All contacts, including those described in the TO, CC, BCC and Recipient Record ID areas should have activities recorded on their contacts when the box to "Save Email as Activity on Recipient Record(s)?" is checked.

Describe alternatives you've considered I've tested unchecking the "Treat the target as a recipient" checkbox, and supplying the same contact in the collection of TO contacts, however this produced a worse outcome, where the email was not related to any contacts (only the account).

I thought about ways of manually correcting things after the activity has been created, by finding the activity, and then creating the additional recipient relationships, however this is quite cumbersome to do, since this action does not output the ID of the created activity (which would be a nice-to-have feature).

Additional context When the template email has been recorded as an activity, it is related to only the one contact, and this contact is referred to by their contact record name, however the other TO or CC recipient contacts are shown using their email addresses, even though I supplied a collection of contacts for the other recipients (this is shown in my screenshot below). I feel like the activity should be related to all the recipient contact records instead of just showing their email addresses. I think this would then be the outcome I'm looking for with this enhancement request, since all the contacts would now have the activity on their contact records, since they're all related to this one email activity.

This question may be irrelevant, but are you using Person Accounts? (NOT advising you do so, but could be part of the problem if you are).

No, we are not using person accounts.
