Understanding scaling in macOS

Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble with my display settings. I want a large window, but without seeing unintended content. When I set a high resolution that causes me to see things outside the default area. The window size is fine, though.

When I adjust it to get the proper field of view, the window becomes too small.
