Couldn't find load text fonts - windows installer from GOG

Open lethalrush opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

I have purchased and downloaded the windows installer from GOG.

I created a dir in Applications called fallout2.

I placed the windows installer setup_fallout2_2.1.0.18.exe in Applications/fallout2.

I downloaded and placed fallout2-ce.app in the same folder Applications/fallout2.

When I run fallout2-ce.app, I get "Couldn't find/load text fonts."

What am I doing wrong? I've searched the issues here and didn't find a solution for the GOG windows installer.

It needs actual files of the installed windows game, not just the installer itself.

ok so I found something called Extractor which extracts stuff from exe installers and ran it on the installer. then i moved fallout2-ce.app into the extracted app folder. that seemed to do it.

It's possible to extract GOG exe files using innoextract tool (which could be found in MacPorts and Homebrew).

Then Fallout2-CE.app folder should be copied inside the Fallout 2 folder, and result folder should be put in /Applications or ~/Applications. Dock.app will see Fallout2-CE.app and run it properly.
