separate game and monitor resolution

I play on a 1080p screen but keep the resolution at 640×480 because i like the game being more zoomed in and having bigger sprites. The problem is that whenever i exit the game i have to reset my monitor resolution back to 1080. This is a mild annoyance for me but people playing at 2k or 4k might have a worse time too.
