DoG plugin doesn't work

When one tries to add a plug-in-dog manipulation step, this is not effective and produces a blank image.

I just tried on the latest version of GIMP (2.8.18) and BIMP (1.17), and I get the same original image (I can tell it's been processed, because the timestamp is updated, but it's as if the filter isn't applied... Very frustrating. Other filters like Resize work fine...

The blank image was likely a bug in DoG itself, namely https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=557380
