Only a few preinstalled Apps are visible, everything else from Play Store/other stores/sideloaded is not

I am using an Android TV-Box X98 mini

SoC: Amlogic S905W2

I love Simple TV Launcher and it's exactly what I want, but unfortunately for some reason it cannot see any apps except the ones that are preinstalled on the ROM (at least that's how it seems).

Anything else I install from an APK or Google Play Store or e.g PureAPK is simply not there. Why is that? How can I fix that?

All the apps are working fine on any other launcher I tested.
