This would be one of the things Org Mode has. I.e. Schedule and Deadline properties (in the header) and Event date time tags anywhere in the body.

Thanks for the info. I can confirm that on 17.1 with GApps everything works fine. Been using it daily for a couple of years.
You added so many useful features. I can't help but notice that many of these come from Org Mode. When (or rather IF) you have some time, try out Orgzly...
