That's right. In fact, since #673, liquidctl will stop you if you try to set an image with an unsupported firmware.

Can you try to bypass liquidctl and manually set a value in hwmon? Locate Quadro in `/sys/class/hwmon/hwmonX`, where X will be a number. Each `hwmonX` will have a `name` entry...
Also, is anything else configuring the device? Are you maybe booting into windows with aquasuite after poweroff or similar?
