bookmarks in unsaved files not getting listed in sidebar or via command

Reproduction steps: create new unsaved file by pressing ctrl+N. paste/enter some text and bookmark one or two lines. Observe that they are not getting listed either in sidebar or via the command. I am inside a workspace which has folders added.
