Any chance of switching to minecraft item names rather than ID's?

Since item IDs are going to be deprecated, I'm in favor of this as well. Also, seeing item names rather than ID in responses would be a bit nicer. For compatibility, I suppose it'd be best to leave the ID.

Is there some canonical list of item names?

There is going to need to be a compatibility layer, but cursory survey of JSONAPI tools shows that this switch could break many, many things

I can't find the list that Dinnerbone tweeted a while back, but there's a copy of it here in a spoiler. Not sure what canonical means off the top of my head, but hope that helps!
