Hi, I remember the size limit about 2tb. Is still already this limit? I really want to use my 4 TB drive. Is possible?

I remember that HDD external, should be in fat32 MBR or something like that, so is impossible use drive more than 2tb.

How is possible now?

Officially the maximum size limit for external USB devices is 2TB due the restriction of the MBR type partition.

There are reports of users using larger storage devices using NTFS or exFAT with cluster size of 32KB or 64KB.

In this thread @atreyu187 reports success formatting an external USB disk of 8TB using FAT32. https://www.psx-place.com/threads/sucess-with-a-single-partition-8tb-external-ps3.11284/

Thanks to reply, anyway there isn't a tutorial to do that.

I can try tomorrow to format in NTFS a 4tb drive with 64kb cluster, I don't know if ps3 recognize it, but we will see. 😅

PS3 officially only recognizes external storage formatted in FAT32/FAT16

Use prepISO + webMAN MOD to scan ISO images stored in disks formatted in exFAT/NTFS/ext2/ext3/ext4
