PSN access blocker on 1.47.42

Open cypher139 opened this issue 1 year ago • 13 comments

Ever since 1.47.42 released the PSN access blocker does not detect syscalls are actually disabled and still leaves the "Mount your game then enable PSN Access by pressing R2+triangle" screen when you try to sign in. The only fix is delete the npplugin_signin.rco file. I had this issue popup when I upgraded to 1.47.42 version on release on one of my PS3s (whereas my main ps3 still on 1.47.41 version has no signin issues). Ever since then I've responded to the same issue posts on several Reddit posts where it was obvious the poster had installed 1.47.42 and were confused why syscalls 'weren't disabling' and instructed them to delete the np file, and they report back that sign in then started working.

I'm writing here because just saw a thread on psxplace and from the looks of aldos reply there it doesn't appear to be widely known that it actually is a webman bug, not device password wrong, etc. Something changed between version 1.47.41 and 1.47.42 that causes the access blocker to not see syscalls disabled, leaving you the user the disable the blocker manually to be able to signin at all.

There must be something wrong in your webMAN MOD settings. It shows the blocked screen when the syscalls are enabled. image

If I press R2+TRIANGLE a popup notification shows "History files & CFW Syscalls deleted OK!" image

When I access Sign In again the screen is unlocked: image

If for some reason the disabled screen stays after disable the CFW Syscalls with R2+TRIANGLE, restart the console and try again. These screens were captured today using the latest 1.47.42 on Evilnat 4.89 Cobra 8.3, and it is working as expected.

I think this only happens when you disable CFW syscalls through Custom firmware tools > PSN tools > Disable syscalls in XMB. At least that's what I encountered on Evilnat 4.89.

@cypher139 Could you confirm what method are you using to disable syscalls?

@kostirez1 it looks like the issue happens randomly. I have tested disabling CFW Syscalls using R2+Triangle or CFW Tools > PSN Tools > Disable syscalls and both methods work fine most of the times. However, I have noticed that the mapping for the PSN access blocker remained active a couple of times, but I haven't been able to reproduce this bug consistently.

The issue could be related to Cobra 8.3 in Evilnat 4.89 that also implements its own PSN access blocker.

@kostirez1 I'm on Rebug 4.84.2 D-REX with Cobra 8.3 manually thrown in dev_blind. Webman R2+Triangle shortcut to disable syscalls.

I also had this exact same issue on 4.84.2 D-REX with cobra 8.3 when pressing R2+Triangle the lock would not be removed. So a temporarily fix was to delete the rco file in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_res/npsignin_plugin.rco

A moment ago I updated a new build that addresses the issue with the R2+Triangle.

I did some quick tests and it looks to have fixed the bug, but it still needs more testing.

The installer can be re-downloaded from the release page or from breowology or using the online updater.

Just tested new 1.47.42 build on the PS3 that had the block issue previously (rebug 4.84.2 d-rex cobra 8.3), it is now signing in properly with the npplugin file present. (updated via download from github releases and install new pkg in package manager) So, looks liked it's probably fixed for now.

I am curious what happens on a evilnat CFW system

Using newest 1.47.42 version with Evilnat 4.89.2 with Cobra 8.3. Definitely not working. When renaming/removing the npsignin rco file, just pressing the Sign In button in XMB crashes the system to recovery mode, and upon reboot webman is no longer in xmb.

Try using the XMB updater to install the latest build; reboot after update to test it.

If that doesn't work, disable the PSN access blocker as explained here: https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/wiki/PSN-access-with-webMAN-MOD#how-to-disable-psn-access-blocker

Reboot after delete the file.

Not sure how the issue closed (wrong button? lol), but re-opening as I just got a reply to one of the Reddit posts I had mentioned that mimics what @dontdeadopeninside experienced. It seems Evilnat firmwares may have more issues that expected?

Try using the online updater... On Sep 2, I uploaded a new update to address this bug https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/commit/6705aa9e9e909aabedc1a5ce560818230bd2806f

Delete /dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_res/npsignin_plugin.rco and reboot.

If PSN continue blocked, then you should delete also /dev_blind/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck and reboot.
