Covers not loaded from ps3netsrv folders

On the wiki it states that covers can be stored in the same folder as the ISO. When I put the covers in the ps3netsrv folders where my ISOs are (ex: PS3ISO), they are not picked up. If I move the iso and cover to the dev_hdd0/PS3ISO they are picked up. The example on the wiki even shows an example of net0: /net0/PSXISO/MyGame.iso.png (can be without .iso too), but this doesn't seem to be working.

So far I've gotten around this by putting PS3 covers in the dev_hdd0/GAMES/covers folder, but it would be nice to have them alongside where the ISOs are stored.

On a side note, I was hoping to run webMAN MOD without needing multiMAN installed, but in order for retro covers to work it looks like it only looks in mulitMAN folders (MM_ROOT_STD, MM_ROOT_STL, and MM_ROOT_SSTL) for the covers_retro folder. Would it be possible to have another location (like dev_hdd0/covers_retro) be scanned so multiMAN wouldn't need to be installed?

multiMAN is not required to be installed. The covers are installed into /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/covers because it's a common place searched by other backup managers like IRISMAN, multiMAN, sMAN and webMAN MOD.

If multiMAN is not installed, the covers package will create the directories.

The remote covers are cached locally in the folder /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp

The last time I tested the covers they were working from ps3netsrv... maybe some recent modification changed the behavior. I will have to verify it when I have some free time. Meanwhile try copying the covers in the aforementioned folder.

Thanks for the quick response aldo, I really appreciate it. I've only been playing around with PS3 modding for a week so I'm still wrapping my head around it. 😄

I originally installed both covers packages (after installing multiMAN). The retro one took a really long time to install, but I think that's due to it having 20k files. Later I decided that I didn't need multiMAN (webMAN MOD did everything I needed), so I uninstalled it, not realizing that the covers were also in that folder. The deletion also took a really long time (again I'm assuming due to 30k+ files being removed).

That's when I started trying to figure out solutions for my covers without installing multiMAN or the cover packages. I completely understand why you would put them there, and I'm probably just an outlier.

I just tried creating the /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/covers_retro/psx structure (with the ICON0.PNG, PARAM.SFO, and PS3LOGO.DAT files) via upload over FTP but my PSX cover was not found after a scan.

If I install multiMAN and then create the covers_retro/psx structure it does work. I'm assuming my first attempt didn't work because I need to create a pkg file that creates the correct structure (again I'm new so I'm just guessing here)?

The remote covers are cached locally in the folder /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp

So does that mean if the covers in my /net0 folder start getting picked up they would be copied to /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp on a scan? I had thought about just copying my covers there but putting them in a temp folder didn't feel quite right, especially if that got cleaned out at some point (I know you can do that in the webMAN menu).

Thanks again and sorry for the long post!

The remote covers are copied to the local folder wmtmp if the cover is not found locally in that folder or other places (e.g. multiMAN covers).

So it's fine to put the covers there if you want to skip the copy process during the remote scanning.
