[BUG] Adaptive overclock/Manual FAN speed sometimes don't works
I have set RSX clocks like this: Underclocked for XMB mode (350/400) Overclocked for games (700/850) FAN profile to manual (30% XMB +10% while gaming) It works very well but sometimes, when i open any game (loaded ISO from XMB PlayStation 3™ folder) both RSX clocks and FAN speed don't change at all, no matter how much time i wait, it works back only after closing and reopening the game. Sorry if it's a known issue, i read over open issues but didn't find any mention to this.
If you're using Evilnat 4.92.2, it is possible that there is a conflic between the fan settings in webMAN MOD and CFW Tools menu.
If the issue occurs only "sometimes" as you described, then it's hard to fix since I need a way to reproduce the bug to trace what is causing the issue.
Meanwhile you can use the manual fan combos to avoid the need of reopening the game:
Use SELECT+UP / SELECT+DOWN to change the fan settings manually at any moment (while gaming you need to press PS button to recognize the combo buttons). Or SELECT+LEFT / SELECT+RIGHT to change the target temperature and switch to dynamic fan mode.
Thank you for fast replying Aldos! Yes, it's on latest Evilnat (4.92.2) and latest Webman Mod release build (48n) but i didn't mess at all with fan settings under cfw menus. Unfortunatelly it happens like 1 : 7/8 times opening a game, unpredictable behaviour, seems like the program fails to detect that a game is running now since it keeps the XMB settings. For FAN speed the key combo is fine, but for RSX adaptive overclock not.
Thank you for your feedback. I understand that it's frustrating. However it's hard to fix a bug that cannot be reproduced consistently.
An alternative for in-game RSX overclocking is adding [RSX700-850] to the file name of the ISO and refreshing the game list.
Or configure a custom combo (e.g. R2+SQUARE) in /setup.ps3 with the command /gpuclock.ps3?700|850
No problem, thanks for the tips! Just wondering, any way to set per game custom clocks for PKG installed games too? Thanks for your support, and for keeping alive this amazing project on PS3 scene too.
The only way to set per game GPU clocks for PKG is mounting them through webMAN MOD. There is an experimental build in this discussion thread: https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/discussions/1275
In the thread I commented that for a proper implementation, the feature should be added to Cobra since the PKG games are not handled by webMAN MOD.
