[Feature Request] memory card reader mounting

Open sylvathemoth opened this issue 9 months ago • 14 comments

i have been running most of my playstation 1 and 2 games through my ps3, but we found a bit of trouble. pocketstation compatible games do not function properly due to the ps3 not being able to mount the reader itself as a slot, so it always fails to detect. not sure if its possible to get it to work, but we at least know its able to save and load data to and from the reader as if it were a virtual card in the manager.

The memory cards are mounted manually through XMB > Game > Save Data

If there is some special redirection that you need to be automated, please provide an example and I can evaluate if it can be included in the next release of webMAN MOD.

the one that cant be done currently is directly mounting the reader to slot 1 or 2, for direct access to the cards. we can only copy the card to internal storage then use it, and write it back later.

I need an example of how to do it manually through syscalls, mappings, copying files, etc. A list of steps to reproduce the feature is needed. Or you can make a pull request if you prefer.

If you don't know how to do it or haven't done that research, then this request will be dismissed.

@aldostools @sylvathemoth I think the path for that card should be defined as one of those

Multicardreader (fat), (cfs) dev_cf // (SYS_DEV_CF), (CELL_FS_IOS:COMPACT_FLASH) dev_ms // (SYS_DEV_MS), (CELL_FS_IOS:MEMORY_STICK) dev_sd // (SYS_DEV_SD), (CELL_FS_IOS:SD_CARD)

it would be the ps2 memory card adapter, not the front card reader

^ looks like it just emulates the PS2 VMC via USB, and is this the device you're trying to use? from what I know, the only work around I know that works is that just directly transfer VMC file to PS3's VMC and that works (I have done successfull save transfer between PS2 and PS3 in the past).

we are using the official adapter here. sadly, mounting it directly doesnt seem entirely too possible. problem is we cant use games that use the pocketstation unless we can make the mounting work. since the game needs to communicate with the pocketstation.

Could you confirm that it works on OFW ? If that is something irrelevant to webMAN MOD then I think this issue needs to be closed since that would be nothing wMM can do to help. There is a high chance that the issue is coming from your CFW or PS3 model. We don’t even know what hardware or CFW you’re running with.

it in fact does not work in ofw, we dont know what would have to be linked for it to work. the ofw save transfer works just fine, but it cannot be mounted like a VMC still. but we are running a 2009 serviced a01 with evilnat, though probably not that important. mounting the card as a vmc probably would not work for ps2 due to the ps3 being fully backwards compatible. ps1 however would have a chance still. but it likely do needs to be closed

I see, so it’s more of a feature request rather than an issue to be addressed. Unless I have the same setup as yours I don’t think I can do much- the limitation perhaps comes up the Game OS level and maybe there’s is a way to treat that adapter as a file to transfer as in VMC. But for now I don’t think I can do much hence the need is very niche since only limited to those backward compatible PS3. Any thoughts on this ? @Evilnat

This maybe something Cobra can do

Can you tell us what PS3 MC adapter are you using? Is it the same one that appears in the video that @Joonie86 posted?

@Evilnat according to the devwiki, /dev_MCA/ maybe the answer to his feature request.
