IRISMAN backup scanner freezing when loading Ys VI (PSP USA)
I was on Evilnat 4.87.2, and for a while, IRISMAN 4.87 was working fine for me. I updated to 4.88 and at that point, it would freeze at the main interface (I think it was set to coverflow). I thought a reinstall would fix it, so I deleted the app and installed it again. I was able to go up to the same roadblocks of #5, where I was asked if I wanted to install to dev_hdd0/GAMES
. From this point onwards, I have never been able to get IRISMAN running again.
Things I tried (now on Evilnat 4.88 and downgrading back to IRISMAN 4.87):
- Renamed GAMES, PSXISO, PS2ISO, PSPISO and ROMS to have
_bak
at the end. PS3ISO is empty so I didn't rename it. - Unloaded webMAN.
- Deleted the webMAN strings in settings.ini
- Deleted IRISMAN 4.88 and going back to 4.87
Try doing this: . Check that Cobra is enabled to avoid that IRISMAN try to load Mamba . Delete IRISMAN to remove any existing setting . Install again IRISMAN 4.88 . Disconnect all USB devices . Rename webMAN folder through ftp so it doesn't match with the string in the settings.ini or restart the system without boot_plugins.txt . Launch IRISMAN
Check that there aren't stick buttons in the gamepad
I followed your steps.
- Cobra 8.3 is running
- IRISMAN was already uninstalled. To be sure, I installed 4.88, removed it, then installed it again
- No USB devices were connected
- boot_plugins was deleted via webMAN, system shut down then started
- To verify, I refreshed the webMAN tab on my browser,
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
and the page didn't load as expected. - IRISMAN launched
My results:
- IRISMAN went up until the prompt for the installation location. It then displays "Scanning all games..." and freezes there.
- At that moment, the webMAN tab reloaded and was on the CPURSX page, displaying the temps and the fact IRISMAN was running.
- Using webMAN, I went to the
dev_hdd0/plugins
folder to delete thewebftp_server.sprx
plugin, then pressed the shut down button from the browser - I started the console again with the controller.
- I verified webMAN was not running.
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
was thrown. - Uninstalled and reinstalled IRISMAN 4.88
- Launched IRISMAN. Stuck again, but webMAN was not running this time. Same error.
Oh, for the record, my model is CEHCL04.
. Rename all content folders in hdd0 too: GAMES, GAMEZ, PSXISO, PSXGAMES, PS2ISO, PSPISO, BDISO, DVDISO, ROMS
The purpose is that the backup manager complete the scanning without games, then start renaming back the folders one by one in case one of them has a game with a problematic name.
BTW If you hold L2 while IRISMAN is starting, it should start in File Manager mode.
. If the problem still persists, try an earlier release for 4.85, 4.86 or 4.87 in case that the issue is with the latest version.
I'm using IRISMAN 4.88 on Evilnat 4.88 and it boots without issues on my system.
OK, I tried the File Manager hotkey thing, I managed to boot into it!
So far, the problem seems to only happen in the games/backups view, and doesn't seem to be webMAN related...I'll rename the usual suspects and get back to you. Problem is, I already did try renaming them once...but doesn't hurt to try again.
If you press SELECT+START from the File Manager it returns to the games view mode.
Renamed all folders, the backups view is back online. I'll start renaming them back one by one.
Updated live: no problems found:
- GAMES
- PSXISO
- PS2ISO
- ROMS
- BDISO
- DVDISO
- PKG
- PS3ISO
Problematc:
- PSPISO
Excellent. Good luck!
Okay, I think that settles it. There's something wrong in the PSPISO
folder that causes IRISMAN's game scanner to break down. I'll hunt down the specific games or cover art.
Okey dokey
So I think I figured it out.
The culprit is Ys VI - The Ark of Napishtim.iso
(USA region). According to webMAN, the MD5 hash of the game's dump is 6802bc53753c979f979e9cc9f66f6494
, which matches what's known on the redump database. I have no idea why this game specifically would crash IRISMAN. I'd say it's probably something to do with IRIS's thumbnail loader, but I can't be quite sure.
I'll move this game out of the way. It's compatible and fine with webMAN, but I'll do without it for now, until whatever's causing this bug is fixed.
