Upstream kernel module?

Will there be an effort to upstream the kernel module or is the focus here to be out of tree ?

It would be worthwhile to upstream kbdus, although we don't currently have plans for that.

We would probably need to add a few missing features (e.g., asynchronous interface, zoned block device support) beforehand, and it would help being able to point to a few well-established, real-world use cases.
