Details Sidebar doesn't show Description and crashes App when closing Details Sidebar in Project view

Open HybridEyeGrillage opened this issue 6 months ago • 5 comments

Describe the bug When opening a task in the sidebar, the description disappears, despite there being one already. Also, the app crashes when trying to close the details sidebar this way.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Create a new project and give it any name/icon/color and Add Project
  2. Create multiple sections (e.g., Food Facts, Language Facts, etc.)
  3. Create a fact with a title, description, and set a date (e.g., next week)
  4. Click on the task to open the details sidebar.
  5. Note the description is not visible.
  6. Click on the sidebar Close Detail icon.
  7. Planify application crashes.

Expected behavior The description is visible and the detail sidebar closes normally to the project's view.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS or DE: Ubuntu (Gnome)
  • Version 24.04 LTS (Gnome 46)

Additional context Thanks for the awesome app- it worked well before, but suddenly this issue appeared out of nowhere and is really blocking my usage. To avoid the app crashing, I have to go to a different project and then close the sidebar. If I want to see the description, it has to be active (as in set to today) to show the description on click.

Hi, thanks for using Planify. I’ve tried to reproduce the bug but couldn’t — it’s quite strange. Which version of Planify are you using? Any additional configurations, such as language or graphics card?

@alainm23 I'm using version 4.15.1 via Flathub. Not sure which additional configurations you mean- I'm running it pretty much on stock settings; no Todoist account attached. Graphics card is an Intel Iris Xe Graphics (RPL-P)/ Nvidia Geforce RTX 4050 laptop edition. I'm also running this off a Dell XPS, formerly a Windoze machine.

A new version of Planify will be released this weekend. Once it’s out, let’s test it again, please. Thank you

@alainm23

Hi, I updated to the new version (4.15.2); the crashes that happened before with the detail sidebar do not occur anymore, so that part is fixed. However, the description field still disappears when opening a task with a description.

The Details side bar not showing description is also reported in #2066. I've running 4.16.0 (flatpak) and haven't experienced the crash.
