Federated search
With elk I can search across my wordpress instance but not globally (eg on https://mastodon.social I can search and find posts/users/tags etc on both local and remote servers).
Do I need to do something to allow searches outside of my site or is this just not possible ?
Thanks.
(excuse my lack of understanding here how searches work)
I am not aware it's possible to search remotely on mastodon.social. You can search all posts that have been posted to and federated to mastodon.social. Since there are so many users, there is a huge amount of posts of people you don't follow available for search.
If you are de-facto alone on your WordPress Mastodon servern, then only those posts are available. Following tags of people you don't follow would be possible when we start supporting subscribing to relays: they forward all posts to a given server who then can cherry pick by keywords. I thought I already had this tracked in an issue (here or in Friends) but I wasn't able to find it.

Ah, thanks, that makes sense.
