Fedilab has connection issues

Open knut-hildebrandt opened this issue 2 years ago • 6 comments

I'm not sure since which version 'cause I jumped some - it might be 0.3.0 or 0.3.1 - Fedilab has problems showing toots. In the beginning no new toots were downloaded at all, in the moment they are but nothing before the problem occured. And if I look at my own profile no toot is shown, not even new ones.

Hi there, could you check again with version 0.4.1? Thank you!

Now I can browse the timeline without problems. I also could toot from Fedilab. But there still do not appear any toots when I look a my profile in Fedilab. Actually the not information shown at all. Furthermore all interaction, replying, boosting or fav toots does not work. But i assume these are different issues or not yet implemented features.

Circling back after a long time, for me this now all seems to work in Fedilab. Would you be willing to give it another try? Thanks!

Just updated Wordpress - now 6.7.1 - and the app - now 0.9.9 - and the behavior still is a little strange.

  1. If I look at my profile when I had selected the account provided by the plugin in Fedilab, it shows toots of all posts on my Wordpress, even those that were made before installation of the app. But no other information like number of posts, number of followers and followed accounts nor there profile information of these is displayed.

  2. If I look at my profile when I have another account selected in Fedilab, I see all toots sent after installing the plugin from Fedilab, except the ones made today. I also can not see any toots related to older posts on my Wordpress installation. The given number of toots includes all posts on Wordpress plus the yet deleted toots sent from Fedilab, except the toots made today. The number followed accounts also is wrong.

  3. I can't toot any posts anymore from Fedilab that have pictures added. This worked for me before. The error message I get say, that the file could not be uploaded.

Honestly I don't really use the plugin, I only had it installed to test it for another WP installation, for which it would have been nice to have a mastodon account on it's own domain.

What I like is, that all post on WP seem to get posted as toots. What is a little disturbing, any toot made from Fedilab appears as a new post on WP. Thus I can't use the account to interact with other mastodon accounts without generating unwanted content on my blog.

Thank you very much for this fresh assessment, this is very helpful to know what I should test and fix for Fedilab!

Also, thank you for the perspective of toots "polluting" into your WordPress posts. It's actually a reasonable thing to expect. If you "bring" your own custom post type, you can set the app to post in that custom post type but I understand that it would be nice if EMA could provide such a post type for you and automatically configure it.

Honestly, I was not aware (anymore) that I can configure the way the plugin behaves when I go to the details page for Fedilab or any other registered app. I had looked for an option to prohibit posting when tooting in the settings tab. A check box "don't post new toots" or an entry like this in "Create new posts as" would be nice.
