Should .editorconfig override user settings?

I'm often hopping between projects with different tab styles specified in the .editorconfig. Would giving users the option to allow .editorconfig specs to override codeformatter options be a good idea?

Hell yeah ... in my corporate life we use 3 spaces for all coding, but when I'm in the normal world I want to use either 2 or 4 depending on the project. Definitely a good thing to have!
