Agreed. It's part of what I meant by "developing a feel for the data" but in a much less articulate way.

Agreed. I have found this is an area where I have struggled when doing stuff on my own. EDA is such an unstructured task, so it would be good to see some examples of EDA done well on different datasets, to give students a feel for EDA.

I'm going to unassign this from myself but leave it open as a long-term objective... I think it's important and something more awesome should be done, but I'm not sure right now what I can fit in.
