Feature: predefined jobs for common tasks

Open dieterdemeyer opened this issue 10 years ago • 5 comments

Hello,

I was wondering if you would be open to the following feature: It would be nice to have a 'jobs' view where you can define custom mco commands for certain combinations of facts. That way, you could run a job that is in fact just a definition of a mco command but for a certain use case.

Regards.

Also, maybe a set of commonly used filter sets, maybe?

But the favorite commands - aka - paired filters with actions and parameters, easily accessed, might make it nice for giving predefined commands to users.

I will start to work on this feature probally next week. My use case is: 1 - User can create predefined jobs (User will create a predefined job that will be one mcollective command (agent + parameters) + filters ) And give a name to that job. 2 - User can list predefined jobs: There will be one page where the user could list all predefined jobs. 3 - User can execute predefined jobs, The user will select one predefined job on the predefined jobs list and execute it.

Thought I replied to this but seems I didn't.

I don't think this would be too hard to implement since a lot of the hard parts are done for the logging feature. That supports saving filters and action parameters to the database. It could be adapted I'm sure.
