cannot limit matching only to file contents

It is not clear how to make it search matches only in the file contents. Tried with text:foo and with body:foo and didn't work.

Hi, you can search inside a particular file with

name:FileName searchstring

Unfortunately that does not help :( I need to find some text in a large number of files -- that's what search tools should do?

By default it searches in file contents of all workspace files.

ok... suppose having the following files and contents:

  1. file-foo blah blah file trah
  2. file-bar other garbage
  3. file-baz yet other garbage

Now searching for "file", I would expect to get just file-foo with the relevant line highlighted. Instead I get also file-bar and file-baz even that those do not contain "file" (besides in their name, which is not important).

Right, see what you mean now. Try: contents:foo
