Original file stuck when opening a portal

Open Flajello opened this issue 2 years ago • 12 comments

sioyek

Portal's entrance crashes when opening said portal. I can move/zoom inside the portal, but the original file is stuck even after closing the portal. Commands also don't work anymore in the original file.

My prefs_user.config:

## Path to shared.db database file. If not set, we use the default path.
## you can set this to be a file in a synced folder (e.g. dropbox folder) to automatically sync
## sioyek across multiple computers
shared_database_path C:\Users\yello\SharedWinLinux\sioyekdb\shared.db

## Touchpad/scrollwhell sensitivity
touchpad_sensitivity 2.0

## Semicolon-separated list of command to execute upon sioyek startup
startup_commands toggle_visual_scroll

Hmmm you mean just creating a portal crashes sioyek? What if the document doesn't have any portals? Also what happens if you do other commands to access the portal (e.g. overview_to_portal command)?

When there are no portals, everything is working fine. The source file is working properly and so is the portal view. When creating a portal (press 'p' on page 1 and then press 'p' again on page 2), the source file "crashes" (in quotes because the window is still open but the file is not responding, I can only open the command window but they dont work) while the portal window is working properly.

With overview_to_portal everything seems to work fine but the overview window is too small (don't know if I can resize it?)

I can't reproduce the issue unfortunately, though I strongly suspect it will be fixed in the next release because we cleaned up the portal system a lot.

Btw you can resize the overview window by dragging the sides.

Alright, in the meantime I'll be using overview_to_portal.

Let's keep the issue open for now so I don't forget to check it on next release.

After a bit of testing, I discovered that if should_launch_new_window is set to 1, sioyek opens a file in the current window instead of a new one.

Also when opening a new window with <C-t> and then closing it, the same issue occurs with the first window where it becomes greyed out but a right-click followed by a left-click restores the window. Example below (apologies for poor quality).

+1.

I am using the windows and face the same issue. Once I press <C-t> and open a new window, the initial window becomes grey, open another file using <S-o> rendering only on new windows.

By the way, when it becomes grey, right click follows by a left click, it will restore, but when I switch to the next window, that one becomes grey again ....

Are you using windows 11? I have 2 computers, one with windows 10 and another with windows 11,I have exact same problem as yours on windows 11, but everything works fine on windows 10. So i suspect this problem related to windows 11 somehow?

Lol I am using Windows 10 rather than the 11.
