Lost Text Styles and Layer Styles

Open BenoitPZ opened this issue 5 years ago • 5 comments

Hi,

First, thanks so much for this plugin. It saved my team and me hours of work.

I use the latest version of sketch and of the plugin.

Since recently, when I move a symbol to my library I lose text styles and layer styles and need to reapply them in the library.

I keep all the style attributes but not the link to the style.

If I have a symbol instance from a library symbol inside the symbol that I move to the library, the symbol instance is still linked after being moved. However they lose their layer style overrides and go back to the default layer style.

At first I thought that it was because I use different libraries for symbols, text styles and layer styles. However I did a test by creating a text style in my symbols library but I have the same issue.

One of my colleague also has exact this problem.

Thanks,

Hello @BenoitPZ , Yes, I am aware of this and added it to my backlog as a new feature :) I hope I will be soon available because it is a must-have now

Hello @ahmedmigo

Just wanted to check how things are coming with this issue? I discovered a funny thing related to this, perhaps you are already aware but this is what happened:

I was working in a project file, creating a symbol using text styles and layer styles linked from my Library file. When i created the symbol and moved it to the Library file, the styles are there when i use the symbol in my project file, but when i look at the symbol in the Library file, there are no Styles on the elements.

Could this have to do with the "search path" to the styles? That they have the library file-name in their path, which is why they work in the project file, but in the library file, where they need to be "local" they do not work.

If this is indeed the issue, a possible work around that i have not tried could then be to have my Styles in one library file and my symbols in another? That way the symbol library would also need to look for an "external" text or layer style.

Thank you for a great plugin, it has been of great help to me already!

Hello @martyficial , the plugin still not supporting text styles and layer styles. sketch was doing so many changes currently and it is very hard to add these features with this changes. I am for that and I am doing my best to make it working again

Do you have any idea of when this might be addressed?

Thank you for all your hard work. This is one of my favorite plugins. Do you still have plans to update this feature?
