Really confusing usage

Hey there, I just tried this in the hopes of it solving this very annoying issue of having to buy gear to do anything music related.

It seemed promising at first, but I quickly ran into some issues that I just don't understand.

At first, I couldn't record anything and also nothing would play back. Then suddenly some kind of drum machine turned on whenever I pressed the play button, and I still could not record anything, even though I double checked all the settings. It seemingly does whatever I don't want it to do at all times.

What is happening? Thanks!
