arrow keys not disabling

Open unltdsoul opened this issue 8 years ago • 4 comments

I just found this, it will be perfect - EXCEPT - the keyboard keys remain active when NOT on the cnc page - in fact they remain active even while using other programs - try to use the cursor keys while typing in Notepad++ and the cnc moves around - not good.

Hi. Glad that You like it.

I havent the environment availble att the moment bit im fairly sure i added an option in the preference screen to enable or disable the keys outside the context (named global Keys). Seems like i didnt uppdated the screenshot but i see some evidences in the code.

Let me know if it works otherwise you can probably find the code that i wrote to catch the keys outside the context.

I noticed that the screenshots show v0.13 but the "global keys" was introduced in 0.14 according to my change log, so there is a pretty good chance you will see the checkbox in the preference dialog and untick it for your use case (for me it was different, i wanted it to be able to control regardles of focus.

The "global keys" checkbox doesn't seem to have any affect. This can actually be dangerous since it might cause you to unintentionally move the mill. I'll take a look at it if I get a chance.

Hey

I've been using your plug-in for a while now, and this is what is working for me. It is a work-around, though.

When i enter the CNC mode and move the head around, when i am done, i click on the Preferences link, which opens the Preferences settings dialog. I then on Restore Defaults link and then Save - which closes the dialog. I then exit the CNC mode by selecting another tab in Repetier.

That releases the Cursor Keys from moving the mill - for now - and i can use the cursor keys as normal in either Repetier or other Windows.
But, once i go back into the CNC window and use he cursors to move the head - i have to repeat the above Preferences and Restore Defaults to release it. And, I noticed that once i hit Print and run a job, that it again sets the cursor keys to move the mill head. So, after a job completes I have to open the CNC window, hit preferences and restore defaults and exit CNC again to use the cursor keys without moving the head.

I really really like the plug-in. So, for me it's worth it to hassle with the work-around. It would be a lot better, though, if this bug could be fixed.
