I cannot open umongo.exe

Open lacivert opened this issue 11 years ago • 8 comments

I have just downloaded and extracted umongo (1.4.2) from http://www.girbal.net/umongo/

I doubleclicked umongo.exe and I saw little icon of mongodb in the center of screen. But nothing happened.

I am using Windows 7. How can I fix this or how can I get more information about why it doesn't work?

could you try executing umongo.exe from a terminal? It should print out an error as to why it's not starting. thanks

I tried, it happened same. The icon appeared at the center of the screen. Then it disappeared. On terminal, there is no exception or error.

What is the java version you are using? cant you potentially try on another machine?

I have another computer but it is Mac. It works on Mac, tomorrow I will try to find another Windows computer to check things as you said. And tomorrow I'll notify the exact version of Java (it is 1.6 or 1.7 but I don't remember exactly)

thanks much, I'd be happy to try to figure it out. I just tried on an older Windows today and it opened fine, so it is probably an issue with the java environment.

Java version information:

java -version java version "1.6.0_43" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_43-b01) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.14-b01, mixed mode)

I try executing .exe file as admin, but still same thing happening. I try both way; on command line and also by right click and "execute as admin", same thing happening.

I try the same things on a Oracle VM (win 7) but I got the same result. its java version is this:

java version "1.7.0_17" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_17-b02) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

I'll try java profiling - monitoring stuff but I don't know how exactly I will see and how it would help...

any chance with running umongo? Do you have output from running command line?

There is no output from the command line. The leaf icon displays for a few seconds and then disappears. I tried with Java 6, 7, and 8, and I get the same results with each. I am running Windows 7 64 bit.
