How can I safely install these plug-ins in macOS Monterey? Is there a Terminal command I need to run?

As far as I know the plugins are not uptodate. My way is using MacPorts and install gmic-gimp. This will last some time since gimp is installed too!

I installed macports and installed gmic-gimp. How do I launch Gimp? There is no application called Gimp that I can find anywhere.

gimp is started from the terminal by "gimp". I see just in my installation, that I have installed gimp2, don't know the difference! gimp2-launcher installs an app in /Applications/MacPorts

port installed |grep gimp gimp-help-en @2.10.0_0 (active) gimp2 @2.10.32_2+python27+quartz (active) gimp2-launcher @2.10.32_0 (active) gmic-gimp @3.1.6_1 (active)

I just tried again on a fresh install. When I type "gimp" in terminal I get this:

macOS@MacBook-Pro ~ % gimp Cannot open display:

The only items in the Applications/MacPorts folder are 2 Python folders and one folder called QT5

You have to install XQuartz from https://www.xquartz.org/ https://www.xquartz.org/!

Still it seems difficult! Your gimp seems using x11 not quartz. Try how far you can come.

I think that is not so good. However the plugin gmic-gimp still uses X11. In worst case you could try to use the gimp.org http://gimp.org/ build and possibly change or extend the gimp plugin path for access of the mac ports plugin built!
